About Us
At Waterbird Gypsy Cobs, our passion is preserving and promoting the beauty, temperament, and heritage of the Traditional Irish Cob. What began as a love for horses has grown into a dedicated breeding program, built on carefully selected bloodlines and a commitment to producing true-to-type, quality horses.
We are proud to stand behind every foal we breed. Each horse is raised with care, respect, and plenty of hands-on attention, ensuring they grow into confident, well-mannered partners for their future families.

Located in Calliope QLD on our 3rd generation farm, every horse on our property is part of our family.
Our Story
Our journey into the world of Gypsy Cobs began with a simple love for horses and a dream of creating something truly special. From the moment we first laid eyes on the breed, we were captivated—their beauty, their kind and willing nature, and their striking feathered legs that seemed to dance across the paddock.

It wasn’t just their appearance that drew us in, but the way Gypsy Cobs carry themselves with both strength and softness. We knew this was the horse we wanted to build our future around.
What started as admiration soon grew into passion. We began learning everything we could—studying pedigrees, bloodlines, and the history of these horses who were bred for generations to be loyal family partners. It wasn’t long before we welcomed our first Gypsy Cobs, and the vision of building a herd with both quality and heart took shape. In our search to find the height to suite us better we were drawn to Ireland and began importing our dream horses in the 15HH and above range.

Breeding, for us, has never just been about producing foals. It’s about preserving the magic of the Gypsy Cob while ensuring soundness, temperament, and type. Each mare and stallion we choose to work with reflects the qualities we value most: strength, kindness, and true-to-type conformation.
Today, our stud is more than a breeding program—it’s a way of life. Every foal born here is the result of years of careful planning, love, and dedication. Watching them grow, seeing them find their forever families, and knowing they carry the legacy of this incredible breed is what makes the journey worthwhile.
